Red Mountain Pass (11,018 ft or 3,358 m) lies in San Juan Mountains . It follows a divide which separates Ouray from San Juan county.It is named after Red Mountain. The pass includes Uncompahgre River and Las Animas RiverMillion Dollar Highway (U.S. Highway 550) runs between Ouray and Silverton, which is part of the San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway . It has 8% grade and switchbacks, and avalanches are frequent in winter. |
