Lesser Scaups |
| wiki
- feed mainly by diving
(except for Netta species)
Diving Ducks have about 15 different living species, also called pochards or scaups. They are strong fliers but take off with more difficulty than other ducks, because their broad blunt-tipped wings require faster wing-beats. Diving Ducks do not walk as well on land as Dabbling Ducks because their legs tend to be placed further back on their bodies for better propulsion underwater. |
