Kestrels |
| American are the smallest Kestrels Birds of Prey in North America (and the only Kestrels here). In the past they were referred as Sparrow Hawks .Kestrels hunting is dinstinguished by a swoop down on prey from a 50 ft hovering height. They feed on large insects (primarily), as well as small mammals and lizards. Kestrels have a lot of brown color in their plumage.Kestrels colors for males are different than for females (unlike for other Falcons ). |
