Belted Kingfishers
hover before plunging headfirst into water to catch a fish. They announce their presence by loud rattling cry.
Females have with red chest band and flanks, while males do not.

Their nest burrow is usually a 1-8 ft tunnel in a dirt bank, and sloped upwards from the water,
with 5-8 eggs.
