| Hiking: - 6 mi Siphon Draw Trail to Flatiron (Details) - 2,100ft to 5,000ft (Waterfalls) Lost Dutchman story: the rich gold mine of 1840s was mined by the Peralta family, who was ambushed and mostly killed by Apache Indians in 1848. In 1870s Jacob Waltz (the Dutchman, actually from Germany) located the mine with the help of a Peralta family member. The Dutchman died in 1891 after revealing the mine's location to Julia Thomas, but seekers only met with incidents and foul play, never locating the hidden treasure.Siphon Draw Waterfall |
